Terms and Conditions of Booking

The terms and conditions of use of this website, relate to bookings made at The Lion Hotel, Builth Wells. Please read this document carefully before making a booking.


All offers of accommodation and other services featured on the Lion Hotel website are subject to availability and there is a limited allocation of rooms available to all offers. The right is reserved to decline bookings. You cannot combine any special offer, rate or promotion on this web site with any other special offer, rate or promotion offered by The Lion Hotel or any of our agents. No two special offers can be combined on the same booking. A booking is only considered as confirmed when a valid reservation number has been issued. A booking can only be considered as guaranteed, once a confirmation email has been issued by the hotel.


Unless otherwise stated, all prices featured on The Lion Hotel website are per room per night. These prices include accommodation in the room type as described, any and all meals as specified in the booking, service and VAT (at the current rate of 20%). Minimum length of stay restrictions may apply to certain rates, as specified.


The Lion Hotel accepts Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. Website bookings will be charged to your card on the following basis:

Advance Purchase Rate (which applies to some special offer package rates and offers): A charge equal to the full amount of your booking will be charged to your card. You must check the booking confirmation carefully and check any queries immediately (within 12hours) with the hotel. Advance Purchase Rate bookings are non- transferable, non-cancelable and non-refundable.

Internet Rate Bookings: A charge equal to the full amount of your booking will be charged to your card upon arrival. We reserve the right to pre-authorise your card upon receiving your reservation. Internet Rate Bookings may be transferable, cancelable and refundable within the terms of the paragraph below entitled, “Cancellation /Non-Arrival Charges”.

Other Payment Methods

It is not possible to conclude a website booking using a cheque, cash or BACS as a payment method. If you wish to pay by bank transfer or cash,you should make your booking by telephone, in writing or in person.


If you wish to make an amendment to your booking, you should immediately contact The Lion Hotel, and we will do our very best we can to accommodate your amendment. An administration charge of £5.00 GBP will apply to each amended booking, up to a maximum of £10.00 GBP per booking. These charges apply to name changes and a change to party size and will be applied on each occasion you have cause to make an amendment. Any other changes (ie. change of date) may incur cancellation charges on the original booking, regardless of any subsequent booking that takes place. Please note that amendments to the Advanced Purchase Rate will also incur any price increase. No refunds will be made in the event of a lower price being available.

Cancellation/Non-Arrival Charges

If for any reason you find it necessary to cancel your booking then please contact the hotel on +44 (0) 1982553132. In the event of cancellation or non-arrival your credit/debit card will be charged in accordance with the conditions as detailed below: Internet Rate and Online Account Holder bookings: Your booking can be cancelled up to 7 days prior to the day of arrival, thereafter 100% of your booking will be charged to your credit/debit card. Advance Purchase Rate bookings are non-cancellable, non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event of cancellation no refund is payable.

Arrival and Departure

Your bedroom will usually be available from 3pm on your specified day of arrival and will be guaranteed for your first night only. On your day of departure we would ask that you vacate your room and check out by 11am, otherwise you will be subject to a charge for an additional night’s stay.


We are sorry but we cannot accept animals of any kind in the hotel, except for Guide Dogs.

Hotel Events

Please be aware that at certain times throughout the year this hotel may host weddings, events and parties, which you may feel would be an intrusion on your stay. Please contact the hotel for further information.


We strongly advise you to take out insurance to cover the cost of cancellation and other risks, including personal accident and personal public liability.


The Lion Hotel has a car park which is usually free (while resident). However, spaces are not guaranteed and is offered on a first come, first served basis only. Parking is strictly at your own risk and is covered by a CCTV system


Smoking in public areas is prohibited in The United Kingdom and is not permitted in any part of the hotel. If you smoke in your room you will be charged a cleaning fee of £150 and may be liable to prosecution.

If you have a problem

In the unlikely event that you have a problem during your stay you must bring it to the attention of the hotel at the time, to ensure that we have an opportunity to rectify it. If you are not satisfied that the issue has been resolved, please submit the details of your problem in writing within 28 days of your return, to:
